Safe and Secure Preston

As part of the Safe & Secure remit of the BID we have equipped the City Centre Ambassadors with two way radios which, through the Radionet scheme, links them not only to retailers in the city centre but also to the CCTV control desk at the Lancaster Road Police station and to the security team at UCLan.

Through this system the team has already been able to assist the various security teams around the city and their efforts have resulted in a number of shoplifters and illegal traders being apprehended and arrested.

The Ambassadors have also been able to affect antisocial behaviour in the city through effective radio communication.  This has led to occasions of street fighting being stopped and drunk and disorderly people being apprehended.

The team of Ambassadors is fully trained in first aid and have already attended a number of incidents.
